Overview: Responsible for programming, debugging and maintenance of computer programs required by United Online to service customers and employees, such as internal applications, server side applications and client side applications. Responsibilities: 1. Design, develop and maintain software for specific business applications based upon requirements from Product Management and designs provided by Principal engineer and architects. Generally responsible for subsystems of the software systems owned by the team. Interface effectively with other teams, as necessary, to implement projects per schedule.2. Maintain and enhance existing software.3. Understand and utilize Object-Oriented and Procedural Programming concepts.4. Create software that will function in all operating systems utilized in production.5. Write design documents that can be understood by other software engineers and architects.6. Conduct Design Review meetings. Participate in Code Review meetings.7. Learn and utilize new technologies as required.8. Assist in training of other employees.9. Support other business units as required.10. Install developed production software as required by specific responsibilities of the position. Provide automated and other monitoring for production software. Respond promptly to emergency contacts by operations staff on a 24/7 basis. Assist general operations staff in debugging and fixing production problems related to her/his production software. Qualifications: 1. A good understanding of Object Oriented Languages with experience in Solaris and Linux operating systems. 2. Proficiency in Java and C/C++ programming languages, and extensive application development experience utilizing Spring and J2EE.3. Proficiency with SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.4. Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl, bash, awk5. Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals including Posix thread models and multiprocessing (including interprocess communication techniques) 6.
