Sr. NMS System Administrator

WildBlue Communications delivers affordable high-speed internet access via satellite to our customer’s homes and offices in the contiguous U.S. Our affordable, high-speed (3.0 megabit per second) internet connection can accommodate up to eight PC's (or other internet-ready appliances) simultaneously. Our team is rapidly growing and we are in search of Temporary Field Service Technicians.

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the system administration of the Wildblue Network Management Infrastructure.  Specific tasks include maintaining and upgrading existing applications, automating and synchronizing software and configuration distribution and working with operations on release management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Primary responsibility for deploying and administering third party tools across different server environments.  These tools will include Netcool and InfoVista. Installation, upgrade, configuration and administration Fundamental testing Deploying internally developed tools – same as above but for home grown tools Managing the MySql infrastructure Automated task scheduling Interface with operations Release managementRotating on-call responsibility

Shell programming experience RDBMS fundamentals.  Familiarity with MySql Familiarity with SNMP, TCP/IP and syslog Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work within and across teams Strong troubleshooting skills PERL/TCL/Expect experience a plusComputer/Network Security Database/Development/Administration Network and Server Administration

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree in technical field or equivalent applicable experience 2+ years working with Netcool or InfoVista. 1+ years building scripts with shell and PERL 1-2 years using and administering MySQL ISP experience a plus
