Responsibilities:The Senior System Engineer is responsible for supporting and acquiring in-depth knowledge of the various applications of the FIM properties. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Systems Engineering, the Sr. System Engineer will become the technical subject matter expert of the various applications developed by the FIM properties. The Sr. System Engineer will spend time embedded amongst the various FIM engineering teams in an effort to gain greater technical understanding of the applications as well as to provide Tech Ops support. The Sr. System Engineer will understand how all FIM applications are deployed and managed in the Production environment and will be responsible for documenting this knowledge and sharing with the rest of Tech Ops. The Sr. System Engineer will also be responsible for developing monitoring tools and scripts as needed for said applications. * Strong understanding of engineering and operating server infrastructure for large scale, high-traffic web sites/applications.* Strong hands-on experience managing large-scale server infrastructure using Linux and Windows.* Solid understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, principles of network and system architecture. IP routing and switching is optional but highly desirable.* Experience with server and network monitoring, capacity planning, change management and configuration policies.* Strong troubleshooting skills for large scale web applications.* Experience with setting up monitoring infrastructure (Nagios, SiteScope, etc).* Self motivated to take ownership of projects and able to effectively manage their own time without immediate supervision* Ability to accept constructive criticism via peer review* Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills* Software engineering/development expertise is a plus.* Prior experience with network and host security is a plus.Requirements:* A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field* Experience in: J2EE architecture, Web application servers (Websphere, Tomcat, Weblogic), relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc)* Experience in Microsoft .NET is a plus* Strong written and verbal communication skills* Presentation skills are a plus* Ability to work in a team oriented environment and handle multiple projects concurrently
