Senior Software Engineer, Java

The Role:
Netflix is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to help us develop, enhance and scale our homegrown warehouse system. Is building systems to ship millions of DVDs per day excites you? Your responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Plan, Design, Build, Unit Test and Support scalable software with simplicity in mind
• Work with your management but also Operations management, warehouse operators to get project requirement and feedback on your deployed software
• Partner with QA engineers to test your applications effectively
Experience & Competencies:

Required:
• 5 or more years as a software Engineer of which at least 4 years developing software using Java with Oracle 8i / 9i database(s).
• Strong object oriented programming skills (Java and/or C++)
• Solid understanding of advanced Java topics such as multithreading, garbage collection internals, memory debugging and portability of Java applications
• Flexibility to shift priorities based on changing business needs
• Enjoys technical challenges and constantly strives to improve existing systems
• Self motivated, curious, responsible and flexible
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Act as point of contact for application problems / emergencies.

Nice To Have:
• Proficiency with SQL & PL/SQL, tuning applications
• Prior experience on scalability projects.
• Prior experience with JMS/ESB.
• J2EE, Struts, Eclipse, SWT, Web services & ANT
• UNIX shell programming.

Education:
A Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent engineering.
