About IT 

We are the largest .net ecommerce organization in Southern CA with platform scalability that during our peaks equates to a revenue run rate of approx. 6 billion. In addition to an e-commerce front-end, we also develop and maintain a complex supply chain platform that has a wide reach across the U.S. We support a distributed SOA based architecture with a wide range of technologies including but not limited to ASP.NET, Web Services, Sonic MQ and related technologies. Overall Role

Provide Commerce is looking for an experienced Senior Performance Test Engineer (Lead) who will work in an extremely fast paced and agile environment and play a pivotal role in ensuring our platform can scale to our peaks. This position will provide technical leadership to a team of performance test engineers and work with a cross-functional team in testing high performance, architecturally sound, scalable systems that align with our business needs. They should be able to partner with Engineering to understand performance risks in a distributed/SOA environment and design test scenarios for the same. They should be hands-on in all aspects of performance testing including writing test scripts and execution as well as do task-planning, scheduling and assignments amongst team members. Candidates must have the ability and interest to work on a range of different types of projects, technologies and business processes.

 

Key ResponsibilitiesWork with the Engineering Lead to understand project architecture and business requirements to devise a performance test strategy.  Collaborate with the Engineering Lead to define the platform components to be performance tested and identify test scenarios for the same.  Work independently in providing detailed effort estimates for your work.Develop scalable, re-usable test scripts using HP LoadRunner HTTP and RTE protocol.Identify and articulate performance risks in the solution to project team.Clearly present test results to the project team.Work across IT to schedule all performance tests and manage all performance testing timelines.Proactively escalate any scheduling conflicts or potential timeline risks across all projects to management.Work with third-party vendors like HP LoadRunner for any technical support issues.Work on continuously improving the efficiency of the performance lab environment, testing and result reporting process. Includes defining and prioritizing improvements/tools to improve testing efficiency.Provide technical leadership in identifying and rolling out new technologies/tools and methodologies for load testing and stress testing.Provide technical leadership in performance engineering and performance modeling concepts.

Requirements6+ years of industry experience with 2+ year experience in design and implementation of performance testing solutions in distributed software systems for internet/e-commerce Company.  More experience is preferred.4+ years of design and implementation of performance tests using HP Load Runner supporting a SOA based Microsoft .NET/C# and SQL Server platform and Warehouse Management Systems.  More experience is preferred.Strong understanding of and experience with HP LoadRunner performance test suite is preferred.Strong understanding of system performance characteristics, points of measurement and key indicators of large scale, heterogeneous distributed system environmentsKnowledge of performance engineering concepts including but not limited to performance modeling and simulation methodologies and techniques is preferred.Knowledge of software development technologies including ASP.Net/C#, ASP/VBScript, XML, SQL, Java and OO concepts is preferredBE/BTech/BS in Computer science or related field is preferred.You pride being accountable, take ownership of outstanding issues, and establishes a high level of credibility with others in the organization
