Senior Merchant Product Manager, Books For many years, Amazon has had a strategy of promoting new and used products from third parties on our websites worldwide. We call third party sales our "Marketplace" business and Marketplace has become a critical part of our business and our ability to serve our customers the lowest prices and widest selection possible.  Marketplace sales have grown to represent 29% of all units sold by Amazon.com globally and the Books Marketplace represents a critical part of this business segment. As Senior Merchant Product Manager for Books on our Retail team, you will be responsible for driving key initiatives and managing strategic Marketplace business segments such as Collectible and Rare and Fulfillment By Amazon businesses within our Books Category.  Among the top initiatives, you will be responsible for launching and managing a Collectible and Rare Bookstore, improving how we merchandise featured merchants, and several strategic initiatives that will make it easier for customers to sell books on Amazon.com.  You will also own key partner relationships with some of our top sellers and be responsible for driving improvements with our managed sellers.Merchant product managers are analytical and creative, responsible for in-depth category management, utilizing in-depth business metrics and developing and driving core opportunities with all relevant cross-functional areas (e.g., Seller Tools, Web Services, Payments, Legal, Operations). Strong candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in product management and/or account management, strategic planning, and will be capable of understanding and articulating Amazon.com strategic priorities. Strong computer skills required (SQL and database management skills preferred), BA/BS required and MBA preferred. Ideal candidates will also be expected to show strength in all or most of the following: bias toward data measurement and analytical decision making customer insight and devotion to customer feedback project management within a matrixed organization oral and written communication ability to work closely with a technical team knowledge of Amazon systems and processes
