Senior ETL/Data Warehouse Developer

The Role:

The Netflix Business Intelligence team is seeking two senior ETL developers with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to join our top-notch BI group. Netflix’s multi-terabyte data warehouse environment creates unique high volume challenges, and thus we are seeking a senior ETL developer with strong high-volume ETL experience (e.g. ideally billions of rows of data per day into a Teradata warehouse). Your strong process automation experience, real-world production deployment and production support experience, and strong communication skills will be a great addition to our dynamic, high-profile BI team.

Responsibilities:

• You will analyze, design, implement and maintain high volume, multi-terabyte 24/7 data warehouse applications
• Develop logical and physical data models; advanced ETL development experience using Ab Initio preferred
• Be a senior technical player on complex ETL development projects with multiple team members
• Develop relevant functional and technical documentation
• Provide project status and progress updates to BI team leadership

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience developing multi-terabyte DW solutions; doing so in a fast paced and nimble ecommerce organization is a plus.

• 8 or more years experience designing and delivering complex, large-volume data warehouse applications
• Senior ETL development, modeling and analysis experience utilizing ETL tools (Ab Initio)
• Teradata experience, including Multiload, Fastload, and T-Pump
• Strong experience in advanced SQL programming
• Data modeling experience
• High volume data warehouse design experience taking Teradata unique nuances into account such as skewing considerations
• Solid and professional communications skills, both verbal and written
• Unix familiarity and shell scripting experience
• Strong production deployment and support experience
• Process automation experience

Nice to have:
• Systems architecture knowledge
• Performance tuning experience in a multi-terabyte DW environment
• BS degree or equivalent
• Responsive, team-oriented personal style for effectiveness with internal clients and colleagues
• Excellent project management skills; ability to multi-task: you need to be able to manage yourself and your commitments
