Senior Business Systems Strategist

We are looking for an experienced technical strategist to join Netflix’s Program Management team. This team is responsible for setting strategy and owning delivery on critical components of the Netflix technical infrastructure.

Are you deeply knowledgeable about how people interact through technology? Are you experienced in effectively mapping and conveying business process in clear and compelling ways? Does solving business problems through technology fascinate you (vs. just the technology on its own)?

This role will guide Netflix stakeholders through a process to establish strategy for critical parts of our internal infrastructure focused on internal collaboration, communication, and community building. The right person should have hands-on experience determining clear, actionable strategy and implementation programs for things like Wikis, IM systems, document management engines, internal search engines, and help desk systems. As well you’ll work interact directly with end users across the company, and with technical teams, to set and manage standards for computer hardware, A/V, phone/voicemail systems, calendaring systems and multiple workflow environments. We want to be cutting edge—you’ll help take us there.

You should be experienced at directing multiple matrixed teams to deliver results, as you will do more than facilitate strategy: you’ll own the plan to deliver the results your stakeholders expect. At times you’ll roll up your sleeves in a hands-on project management role to deliver on time, budget, and spec, across many technical projects at once.

You’ll be gifted in educating brilliant technologists on the business value of critical initiatives. You’ll be great at scoping work to meet the core needs of your stakeholders without needless investment. You’ll like process as long as it’s useful in getting work done. You’ll have an open, service-oriented mindset and will be a flawless, direct communicator at all levels: arrogant ivory tower types need not apply. When the time is right, you’ll really enjoy getting your hands dirty.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with Manager, Director, and VP level stakeholders to guide strategy for critical components of the Netflix internal infrastructure
• Actively engage with end users and be a tireless advocate for their needs
• Effectively capture, review and communicate stakeholder needs
• Accurately scope specific activities to effectively meet business need and enable flawless, fast delivery
• Deliver fantastic communication through meetings, status reports, and project management tools as appropriate
• Evangelize the power of technology to a highly sophisticated user base
• Contribute to the discipline of Program Management at Netflix through:
• Maintaining an understanding of industry best practices
• Working as part of a cross-functional group to evolve the Program Management processes at Netflix


QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years in delivering technical programs in fast paced Internet-oriented environments, ideally focused on internal collaborative systems and desktop/PDA technologies.
• Strong project management & project organization skills
• Experience in scoping, defining, developing, implementing and controlling methods/processes
• Knowledge of IT best practices, issues and real world experience in scoping and deploying complex solutions involving technology
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management within an organization
• Excellent analysis, collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with client team members
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
