As we continue to grow, so do our staffing needs.  World Avenue is seeking a Release Engineer This position is responsible for focusing on World Avenue’s release and configuration management efforts by performing the following duties. Technologies consist of Web based applications in HTML, PHP, Linux, Apache and MySQL.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

- Designs, implements, and maintains build automation scripts.

- Sets-up and maintains build and QA environments.

- Manages the source control system.

- Track and co-ordinates releases across the development, QA and Production servers.

- Other duties that are within education and experience or the incumbent may be assigned for the betterment of the company.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Experience working with version control systems, performing software builds, developing packaging and installation scripts is a must.

- Candidates must have significant and recent software configuration, build, packaging, and release management experience.

- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage software release plans and processes.

- Ability to explain and demonstrate configuration management, defect and change tracking, and release management methodology.

- Experience in build/release engineering and configuration management with a solid knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle is essential.

- Strong experience with source control systems like Ant, Subversion, (administrator level experience preferred).

- Solid experience working on Linux servers with system administrative experience required. 

- Experience developing shell scripts is necessary.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Proven ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks, short release cycles.

- Experience on a product that has been released for public consumption.

 

 

 

Technical Skills:

- Operating systems: Linux

- Relational Databases: MySQL

- Web/Application servers: Apache

- Programming/Scripting: PHP, HTML, VBScript, Linux shell scripting, Perl, Ant

- Version Control System: Subversion

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent; and minimum of 5+ years of experience in software release management.
