POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

The Procurement and Purchasing Manager will be responsible for a large portion of the hard goods and plush buys for the ProFlowers brand.  Internally, they will be working with several team members across various departments to determine merchandise specifications, timelines, and quantities.  Externally, they will be responsible for negotiating contract terms with new vendors and maintaining relationships with several existing vendors and suppliers.  The ideal candidate will have prior consumer manufacturing and/or retail experience with seasonal ramp ups and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.  Solid understanding of lead times and seasonal buys are key.  Provide Commerce is looking for a great communicator who enjoys negotiating. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES:  Review current purchasing procedures and make recommendations for improvementImprove efficiencies and effectiveness of the procurement function. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within both the organization as well as external vendor partners. Work with Materials Manager and Inventory Planner to ensure adequate capacity for holiday and non- holiday needs, taking into consideration lead-times and transit times.Facilitate cross-functional process to effectively manage product life cycles with particular focus on end-of-season / end-of-life inventory levels and dispositioning excess & obsolete inventory.Track and manage on time delivery of new development and pre-production samples for new product introductions. Determine appropriate supplier for hard goods, accessory and consumable products considering price, service, delivery and qualityMonitor and manage seasonal production and on time delivery of all purchase orders to the company calendar.Ensure the best combination of price, quantity discounts, product quality, standard terms and conditions. Negotiate product pricing, lead-times, and vendor charge backs. Responsible for reviewing spend/supply market analyses, identifying sourcing value levers, and leading supplier negotiationsManage vendors; work with current and competitive vendors to achieve the best prices and practices for the company by anticipating and adapting based on changing market conditions. Intervene and resolve major vendor issues in coordination with businesses, functional staff, users and management.Coordinate supplier meetings with appropriate personnel.Lead cross-functional teams regarding strategic sourcing initiatives.Identify new global sourcing opportunities. Understand and maintain product lead timesUpdate and communicate product delivery datesVisit potential manufacturers to evaluate their ability to meet our requirements. Track and manage various departmental reports including, seasonal metrics, vendor scorecards and cost analysis and landed cost.  Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Minimum of 5 years experience in sourcing/supply management roleBS in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Materials Management, or Business Administration or related fieldPurchasing Certifications preferred Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing/supply management including excellent negotiation skills and experience with strategic sourcing methodologies Ability to manage the completion of deliverables, identify and solve problems, proactively challenge the project team to consider new alternatives and generally drive critical thinking to optimize project results Experience in supplier cost analysis techniques, contract negotiation and managementMust have knowledge of general purchasing standards and terms used in industryExperience with international vendors a plus but not necessaryConsumer manufacturing and/or Retail experience is a plusAbility to work independently as well as interpersonally Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented and time-sensitive environmentAbility to lead and manage cross-functional processes and schedules.Must be proficient in MS Office suite of products
