Network Administrator / Technician - Telecommunications

Ketchikan Public Utilities Telecommunications has an opening for an experienced IP Specialist / Journeyman CO Network Technician.

 

Job Description:

Ketchikan Public Utilities Telecommunications, a local exchange company with 10,500 lines located in beautiful southeast Alaska, has an opening for a highly experienced IP professional.  This position performs skilled duties relating to the operation, installation, administration and maintenance of a sophisticated triple-play (video, Internet, Voice) IP network and related softswitches.  Position also performs duties on legacy Nortel and AFC telecom switch and transport network equipment.

 

Job Requirements:

The candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years of combined experience and related education in: LAN/WAN networking, Central Office transport & Switching, IP networking, Routing and network design.  Additional exposure to RADIUS content and cache servers, ATM, TDM, VOIP, video transport, DSL and SS7 is helpful and experience with video headend equipment and a Tekelec or similar softswitch is highly desirable.  Some or all of the following certificates:  CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, and MCSE and/or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is also desirable.
