The position: Boston.com is seeking a Manager of Web Analytics, who will play the role of analytic champion for the organization to infuse quantitative justification into site experience, editorial / product, and marketing decisions using audience insight and business intelligence.

Reporting to the Vice President / General Manager of Boston.com, responsibilities include:

Web Analytics Vendor relationship contact with Omniture – logging tickets for any product questions or issues that arise; ad hoc status calls; advocating for Boston.com needs on their solutions road map, training needs, etc. Resident data extraction tools expert – provide support and training for users of the following systems and resolve challenges/ questions as they arise: Omniture SiteCatalyst, Tacoda AMS, Nielsen//Netratings Audience insight -- design and deliver reports – audience profiles, performance dashboards, ad hoc investigations, etc. – and provide interpretation guidance to aid decision making by functional teams (e.g., Product, Editorial, Marketing, Sales) as well inform overall business planning Site experience optimization – plan and execute testing protocols and optimization insight (e.g., A/B tests); develop measurement plans that support product/ business insight needs and ensure proper implementation and report accuracy with Technology teams Business planning support – Use syndicated, third-party, or industry research to model/ forecast potential impact of product or partnership initiatives

Audience Analytics Operations – Oversee the design, extraction, synthesis, and delivery of reports and analysis and training of tools to users Audience insight – Advise on insight needs, approaches, and methodologies and direct data collection and insight packaging/ format to answer decision-making questions of functional teams (e.g., Product, Editorial, Marketing, Sales) as well inform overall business planning – surveys, focus groups, site stats, audience profiles, secondary research, industry benchmarks, etc. Vendor management – Manage relationship with site analytics solution provider; act as resident expert of methodologies, and central hub for access to, subscription research services (e.g., Nielsen, Forrester, etc.); participate in corporate-wide evaluations of solution providers in an effort to gain operational and cost efficiencies associated with common platforms Site experience optimization – Identify relevant KPIs and design measurement plans and associated report formats that align with new product/ initiative insight needs; advise and inform analytic and testing approaches Business planning -- Utilize syndicated research methodologies (e.g., Nielsen, Forrester) and/ or primary research techniques (e.g., surveys, focus groups) to inform strategic business decisions

Requirements:
At least four years prior experience in website analytics is needed, with at least one year experience managing staff. Deep knowledge of web analytics tools, especially Omniture is a must, along with strong understanding of online advertising industry; including advertising systems and technologies. The ideal candidate will also have: Strong leadership and mentoring abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Must be able to multi-task and adapt to change Superior problem solving and organizational skills
