Manager, Content Accounting

The Manager, Content Accounting will report to the Senior Manager, Content Accounting who reports to the Corporate Controller. The Content Accounting group supports all accounting activities related to the acquisition and management of content e.g. DVD and Electronic Delivery. The acquisition and management of content is performed by the Content Business team who are all located in Beverly Hills, CA. The Manager, Content Accounting will interact heavily with the Content Business team and more specifically will be responsible for accounting for DVD Revenue Share agreements and Electronic Delivery (ED) Rights agreements with Studios and Distributors. The position will reside in the Company’s headquarters in Los Gatos, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Experience in monthly financial close, reconciliations and project management within a fast-paced environment is key. The role will also be heavily involved in efforts to implement a new rights management system.

The role will be responsible for supervising and improving on the day to day accounting and reporting for DVD and ED contracts and will interact heavily with the Content Operations, Content Buyers and FP&A teams in our Beverly Hills location.

Responsibilities Include:
• Supervising two senior accountants
• Accounting for DVD and ED Library Contract expenses, assets (e.g. Prepaids & Licenses) and related amortization / impairment
• Ensuring timely and accurate review of monthly journal entries
• Ensuring timely review of monthly reconciliations for related assets, liabilities and expenses
• Ensuring timely and accurate monthly reporting and payment to the Studios and Distributors
• Maintaining SOX compliance efforts for areas of responsibility
• Reviewing quarterly and annual audit schedules and interaction with external auditors
• Standardizing, simplifying and automating processes
• Being a business partner with the Content and Operation teams
• Working closely with IT to identify areas to automate manual processes
• Working closely with the DVD and ED Content Buyers and Content Operations teams
• Working on cross-functional projects (with IT, DW, Content, etc)

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 7 years in accounting with minimum 2 years of managerial experience
• Solid US GAAP and internal control compliance experience
• CPA preferred
• Royalty experience preferred
• Very strong computer/systems and Excel experience
• Information system implementation experience preferred
• Travel - willingness to spend up to 25% of time (i.e. approx 1 week) per month in our Beverly Hills location
