Lead Web Engineer

The Lead Web Engineer works closely with developers and usability designers to create high-impact Web pages; develop Web pages; post, organize and maintain various interconnected Web pages; manage the development, integration and maintenance of content management templates; and manage the integration of search tool functionality. Based on direction from management, learns and implements new technologies; keeps abreast of the latest front-end technologies for the Web; The Lead Web Engineer also acts as the primary resource in developing the necessary web code for the project application. This person will need to be able to understand the SDLC model and what their specific activities are in delivering a solid, robust application, to understand coding standards and source code development standards to be able to develop code that is clean, understandable, maintainable and solid, to develop and implement solid unit test plans to accurately test the application code, functions, modules and program and to maintain detailed and accurate documentation per all project standards. The Lead Web Engineer will also act in a leadership and administrative role providing guidance and direction within the team, monitors the team’s quality of service, develops the team’s standard operating procedure, be able to both work and lead in a matrix team environment and have a strong sense of customer service.The Software Developer is mainly responsible for the design and development of high availability web services software within Experian Marketing Services. This position will work closely with the senior technical staff to address technical design and code delivery for a commercial software product. The role will work across several IT processes including analysis of detailed specifications from which applications will be architected, tested and deployed.  Responsibilities: Work closely with technical management to support Experian Interactive Media’s high availability services in all phases of the software development process. Develop applications to include: code development per project coding standards, development of unit test plans, code and module testing, application debugging, implementation of code that follow efficient design techniques and code development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the application. Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, project team meetings, requirements / project meetings, etc.) and written (requirements and design specifications documents, code development, project status reports, technical documentation, etc.) form Provide strong leadership and assistance to the quality assurance team members for ongoing qualification Web-based applications in a rapid engineering environment. With minimal or no direction, perform complex assignments with an emphasis on detail and quality. Identify risk and provide solutions to complex issues. Demonstrate analytical skills assessing product requirements and functional specifications. Contribute to project estimations and risk analysis. Mentor less experienced members of the team in technology and processes. Provides direction as needed in the form of issue and task prioritization and scheduling.  Skills: Excellent programming, code development, code debugging and testing skills, troubleshooting skills, and experience with numerous operating systems, development environments, programming languages and architectures. Strong decision making and creative problem solving skills and experience with application projects. Understanding and experience of application coding methodologies and the SDLC model.Should be able to demonstrate a working relationship with groups within or outside of IT to help implement technical solutions. Excellent knowledge of development methodologies and technologies, such as Object Oriented design and analysis, n-tier architectures and distributed environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to think creatively, work under pressure and demonstrate strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail & works well in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently, usually without supervision. Demonstrated attention to detail skills through prior experience at the tactical, implementation level. Thorough working knowledge of the application development and application integration processes, methodologies and their direct implementation to applications projects. Solid knowledge of Web based technologies a must. Requirements: 7+ years experience in web application development and design Development experience with frameworks, components, web applications and java applications. Must have hands-on experience across the entire software development cycle from development, unit-testing, maintaining to production rollout. Minimum of 5 years of strong development experience in JAVA/J2EE. This includes all facets of J2EE including JDBC, JSP, SERVLETS, EJB, Spring, Ajax, XML. Experience with application server environments (Jboss) Expertise in browser based web applications development. This includes JSP, HTML, DHTML and JavaScript. Cross-Browser development experience Proficient in web development – including HTML,DHTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript and at least one of the following - ASP/JSP/PHP or a similar object-oriented -server-side scripting language. Experience working with Content management systems a plus. Work Experience with relational database technologies and optimization a plus. Supervisor or management experience a plus.
