Java/Perl Software Engineer
Eventful is the Internet's largest events database, listing over 15 million worldwide events. Being able to rapidly search and navigate these events is a constant challenge, and requires an understanding of advanced web development techniques. This position provides technology leadership in the areas of Java and Perl development and will focus on delivering high quality enterprise applications both as an individual developer and as part of a development team.
We are looking for a highly experienced, self-motivated Senior Software Engineer to help us engineer and deliver world-class search performance for the Eventful website. This engineer will lead development of Eventful's Lucene-based search cluster and be responsible for managing Eventful's Tomcat-based recommendation and image serving subsystems. Perl development will be needed to interface with other Eventful components and to create new Eventful services.Qualifications Solid programming experience especially with Java and Perl Candidate could be a Java, J2EE, Windows or Linux software developer with strong Perl skills Quick in learning new technologiesRequirements Strong Tomcat development experience in a high-performance environment Strong Perl experience, mod_perl a plus Solid experience using Object Oriented Design and distributed, multi-tiered designs, software development best practices, refactoring Comfortable with Multi-threading & concurrency issues Very familiar with Linux as a deployment environment Must be able to rapidly debug and develop Tomcat servletsPreferred Experience Apache Lucene experience a plus Good networking knowledge a plus Recommendation algorithm theory a plusHow to apply:
