IT Analyst – Software/Web Developer
Contract to Hire
This member of the IT team that is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Service's technology assets and objectives. Support technology operations for instruction, research, and marketing and communication using various software programs in a network environment to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of multiple websites, databases, and servers in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services.
Job Description:
1. Design and maintain database applications for websites (see preferred software and environment qualifications). Help support the College's faculty, staff, and their technology endeavors especially those projects that would require any databases or web presence
2. Recommend and execute necessary enhancements or modifications of the college and departmental web sites using current and emerging technologies
3. Design and maintain secure web servers and database instances on physical and virtual servers running Linux, Netware or Windows using various open source and supported applications
4. Create and maintain documentation of code (internally and externally) to allow for easy understanding and modification by team members
5. Share in the responsibility and duties for the administration and support of the Novell, Windows and VMware virtual servers; providing file and print services, web site and database hosting
6. Perform special projects and strategic technology planning as directed by supervisor
Min. Quals.: Associates Degree in an applicable field (Computer Science or related) and 2-3 years of related technology experience.
Ideal Qualifications: Bachelors degree or equivalent in applicable field preferred, higher education environment work experience preferred.
Skills:
Must have experience with Netware, Linux and Windows operating systems natively as well as virtual servers from a VMware environment; experience developing for and maintaining web, application, database and streaming media servers (i.e. Apache, mySQL, Tomcat, etc); applicable knowledge of web application architecture and design; well versed in developing with several of the following disciplines: html, css, xml, rss, php, .net, sql and flash.
Certifications in any of the above disciplines and architecture are preferred.
Knowledge of web-based instructional technologies and experience with supporting and mentoring the transfer technology tools to others is preferred.
