The Predictive Analytics group within Research & Development Operations of The New York Times Company deploys statistical and datamining methodologies to further develop the digital audience of all NYTC websites. The primary focus of those methodologies is page testing and segmentation.

Dataminers in the group work closely with Marketing, Design, Technology and Product Development to design and develop multivariate page tests as well as to analyze and communicate page test results.

Other activities involve datamining the access logs and news feeds to discover navigational and content consumption segments.

The successful candidate must have a range of skills:

- Statistics and Datamining Individual should be able to design an experiment and know how to analyze test results as well as to know how to discover segments in data.
- Internet Application Knowledge Individual should understand how access logs are collected and what issues may arise in the collection proces to cause biases in the data.
- Internet Business Savvy Individual should understand the business goals of an online publisher.
- Database Experience Individual should know SQL and have had experience working with large databases.
- Passion and Commitment Individual should be passionate about this area and willing to commit their skills and abilities to this area.
- Results Driven Personality Individual will be responsible for multivariate test management from the inception of the test idea to the communication of the final test results. Individual will also have responsibility for the creation and management of user segments.
- Communications Individual should possess superb listening, written and oral communications skills.

Candidates with an advanced degree in Statistics or related field will be given greater preference.
