We are searching for a candidate to be our Controller for a client that is a well known social service agency.  The accounting office is in the west loop downtown Chicago area. The purpose of the position is to develop, implement, and coordinate the financial and accounting functions for the client in conjunction with the FPO Relationship Manager, who is their CFO.  Goals include achieving a service standard reflected in reliability, responsiveness, assured competence and tangible excellence.

Responsibilities include managing daily accounting operations, generating and delivering financial statements, budget and audit preparation, and client presentations and analysis. The position is required to maintain close working relationships with the client and related funding agencies.  Additional responsibilities are to supervise all finance staff, onsite and in an offshore service center, with authority to hire/fire, require/give performance development, and assign work for all positions. Also, the Controller will attend and participate in supervisory conferences, staff meetings, and executive staff assignments. 

In addition to serving the client this position serves as a member of FPO’s NFP leadership team.  This team sets the goals, operational and strategic direction of the NFP group and supports each other in their client and accounting endeavors. 

An effective communicator is required and CPA and NFP experience a plus.
