The NYTimes.com Strategic Planning and Business Development group supports the company by formulating a digital strategy and identifying and negotiating business development deals that support that strategy.

Projects typically touch numerous functional teams (internal and external), affording insights into the different dynamics and operations within the organization and within the online media space.

Responsibilities will include:

- Collecting, analyzing and synthesizing internal and marketplace information to formulate strategies for NYTimes.com

- Building comprehensive analytical models and spreadsheets that aid in business decisions.

- Conducting in-depth analyses of economic, sales, financial, and operating data from primary and secondary resources to develop actionable business solutions.

- Communicating ideas, objectives and results to team members and to internal clients, as appropriate.

- Researching, structuring, closing and managing business development deals.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree and 2+ years of experience in online media.

- A background in consulting and/or functional experience in strategic planning, marketing, and/or financial/business analysis a plus.

- Strong analytical skills to assess large amounts of data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

- Ability to think critically and account for both quantitative and qualitative implications that could help inform decisions by senior management.

- An understanding of competitive and technological challenges facing the online media industry.

- Self-motivated, with the ability to independently structure and execute on broadly scoped projects.

- Resourceful ? willing to tap into the knowledge base found throughout the organization even with limited guidance.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Demonstrated interest in media, with particular familiarity with, and affinity for, The New York Times

- Proficiency in Excel and Power Point
