Variable Product Specialist
Basic Job Summary: Responsible for the analysis and review of variable product recommendations for suitability.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Back-end surveillance and analysis of variable product transactions recommended by Financial Advisors for suitability and adherence to Waddell & Reed’s variable product guidelines. Request supporting documentation, corrections or further suitability information from the Financial Advisor or Field Management regarding variable product transaction.Respond to inquiries regarding variable products including submission of business, benefits and features of the products and their availability, etc.Review exception reports monitoring Financial Advisor sales activities with respect to variable product recommendations to detect possible trends or irregularities and provide appropriate disciplinary recommendations to manager.Work in partnership with other departments such as Client Services, OSJ/Suitability Department or outside insurance carriers regarding the review of variable product transactions.
Must have one of the following:
· College Degree and one year of pertinent experience – or -
· 6+ years of industry experience – or -
· Equivalent combination of college education and pertinent experience
Additional knowledge, skills and experience desired:
· Series 7 and 24 licenses obtained within first three months.
· Knowledge of industry rules and regulations is preferred.
· Knowledge in insurance products and variable annuities is preferred.
· PC proficiency necessary. Knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and databases preferred, including experience with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong customer service skills in working with Advisors and Field Management.
· Able to work under pressure and manage several projects simultaneously.
