We are one of the leading insurance companies in the United States.  Our superior financial strength and consistent record of strong operating returns mean security for our customers - and opportunities for our employees.  You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. We are currently looking for a Unit Manager, Commercial General Liability.  Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: JOB DESCRIPTION: SUMMARY:In this role you will provide overall leadership and direction to a team of experienced General Liability claim representatives.  In addition, you will manage unallocated expenses (ULAE) and allocated expenses (ALAE) to help promote competitiveness in the market place.  Travel (approximately 20%) will be required for periodic customer, agent and broker visitation. PRIMARY DUTIES:  Provide leadership to a team of 6-8 General Liability claim representatives to achieve organizational and unit goals  Oversight of minor to moderate severity claims  Provide marketing for claim services during sales meetings  Collaborate with the local and regional underwriting staff  Drive claim file quality in compliance with Best Practices  Provide strong customer relationships with our agency and broker partners  Coach, develop and mentor the claim staff to provide a supportive growth environment  Collaborate with panel counsel firms to provide strong legal defense for our  insureds The preferred candidate for this role will possess the following:   Claim management experience, with emphasis on developing and mentoring personnel  5 + years Commercial General Liability claim experience to include coverage  evaluation and current knowledge of jurisdictional laws and regulations  Ability to energize others and demonstrate leadership skills  Excellent oral and written communication skills  Basic typing and computer skills to include familiarity with Microsoft word and excel EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:  College degree or equivalent related work experience In addition to an exciting environment, we offer: * Competitive base salary with additional opportunities for variable pay through recognition programs and incentive awards * 401(k) with company match* Comprehensive health plans that include coverage for same sex/domestic partners* Strong work/family and employee assistance programs* Tuition reimbursement * Vacation Purchase Plan* Training/Development opportunities We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
