Underwriting Team Lead

We are currently recruiting for a Teleworking Underwriting Team Lead located within the central time zone. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership to Field Underwriting teams. As a leader this position will assist the Undewriting Managers with managing personnel, production, processes, and reporting.

Additional responsibilities:
Manage personnel matters for assigned team members, including but not limited to scheduling time off, performing periodic loan reviews for quality of work, set up for new employees, training and disciplinary action as needed. Write and perform annual performance appraisal on assigned team members.

Manage team members? workflow on a daily basis to insure production and procedures requirements are met and team members meet underwriter?s goals and objectives.

Manage questions from team members, as well as, other internal and external customers seeking guidance on specific loans and processes. Work to resolve issues that arise in the underwriting including 2nd level loan review decisions.

Review Quality Assurance Results, fraud validation reports and other metrics reports to insure consistent execution by field underwriters. Provide feedback as identified to create process improvements.

Assist with developing processes and procedures that will create efficiencies.

Review and analyze monthly production reporting for management.

Position Requirements
5 + years experience in residential mortgage underwriting and/or quality control due diligence with an emphasis on Automated Underwriting Systems as well as manual underwriting.
Previous experience managing people, workflow and specific job duties.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
