For over 60 years we've been providing health insurance to Arizonans.The Underwriting Reporting Analyst will oversee production of supporting documentation and reporting development for underwriting rating process. This is a technically oriented position requiring good organizational skills. Underwriting experience in the healthcare / insurance industry is a requirement for this position. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop processes, write programs and/or create databases using SAS/MS Access and create spreadsheets to ensure accurate and timely completion of Group Underwriting’s reporting, analysis, and other duties including, but not limited to: Detailed claims for ASC invoices Renewal and profitability data for 100+ experience rating Large Group Invoice process Back-end reporting for large group (retention components, review of reserve and claim set). Identify/create programming applications and technical solutions to address Group Underwriting’s business issues Evaluate reporting processes to design efficient analytic reporting methodology Coordination with vendors and/or internal staff for updates/enhancements to the rating program Development of back-end reporting (small group) Ensure that Group Underwriting department’s current and future reporting needs are met in an accurate and timely manner. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Four-year degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative field. Experience using skills in mathematics, statistics and/or scientific analysis for application in a business environment is required. Underwriting experience in the healthcare field is REQUIRED. KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Prior underwriting experience in the healthcare field is required Familiarity with claims, revenue, and enrollment data required Skill in computer programming, mathematics, statistics, and scientific analysis, to be used in an applications environment General understanding of data management principles, such as joining data sets, indexing, data aggregation, record selection, subsetting, multiple records per case, create and modification of views, accessing multiple databases Ability to research and access external databases Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications Ability to learn how to transform data in various formats into SAS data sets by using current technical knowledge Familiarity of SAS software Written and verbal communication skillsBCBSAZ is a local, not-for-profit health insurance plan that is focused on the customers we serve and the community where we live.
