Underwriting Consultant/Home Office Underwriter

UNDERWRITING CONSULTANT

 

 

Primarily responsible for providing technical underwriting consulting resources for property and casualty lines for core service centers.  Responsible for handling underwriting referral from core service centers.  Responsible for analysis and pricing for assigned lines of business for assigned states.  Participate in field underwriting reviews.  Accept or decline business that exceeds regional authority.

 

Functions/Responsibilities:

 

Using broad underwriting experience provide technical underwriting

consulting advice to core service center underwriting to assist in the

advancement of creation of exceptional value for policyholders and

Partner for Success agencies.

 

Evaluate and make appropriate decisions on business that exceeds field

authority, to maintain profitability on assigned line(s) of business and to

promote corporate objectives.

 

Coach and train field staff on underwriting and analysis.

 

Participate in analysis of results for assigned line(s) of business, making recommendations to improve results.

 

Place facultative reinsurance as needed to protect the financial integrity of the company.  Negotiate terms and obtain needed coverage in a timely fashion.

 

Serve as a member of the Underwriting Review Team or others as requested.

 

Participate in relevant self developmental activities to improve knowledge and skills.

 

Other activities as assigned by management.
