System Administrator

HCC Service Company ("HCC Service"), is seeking a System Administrator. HCC Service is a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. Best Company and AA (Very Strong) by Standard & Poor’s.  HCC Insurance specializes in diversified financial products; group life, accident & health; general aviation; property; marine and energy; and other specialty insurance. 

 

Eligible candidates must have 3-5 years of business experience and some college course work. The System Administrator will report to and work closely with the Technical Support Manager. This position will act as 2nd level support for desktop issues. The ideal candidate will also have expert knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange 2003.

Essential Job Functions:

· Develop and maintain server and network documentation.

· Install, configure and maintain server operating systems.

· Install, configure and repair server hardware.

· Manage network system backups.

· Install and maintain server-based application software packages.

· Act as 2nd level support for desktop issues.

· Assist Help Desk as required in desktop support activities.

· Support remote users in accessing corporate resources.

· Perform system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment.

· Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware on a routine and scheduled basis.

· Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.

· Participate in on-call rotation for off-hours support.

 

Special Skills and Requirements:

 

· The candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of multi-site, mixed-technology enterprise environments. This position requires excellent communications skills (written and verbal) plus the ability to work as part of a team.

· Expert knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange 2003.

· Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Backoffice Products, including Systems Management Server (SMS), MS-SQL, ISA Server, and Internet Information Server (IIS)

· Sound working knowledge of Internet/Intranet technologies including security features.

· Sound working knowledge of network infrastructure and operations, including switching, routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP.

· Sound working knowledge of remote access technology.

· Proficient and familiar with various software packages, including 2 to 3 years experience with MS Office Professional Suite.

· Excellent customer service and telephone skills, and experience in a professional service environment, with responsibility for supporting multiple applications and network environments.

· Good verbal and written communications skills.

· Strong problem solving skills.

· VMWare experience is a plus

· Citrix experience is a plus

· SAN Experience is a plus

· Must be team oriented and have a high degree of professionalism.
