It's a smart move.Responsibilities:Fireman’s Fund is in search of an IT Solution Engineer (Solution Architect) for our Enterprise Policy Administration System (EPAS) team. EPAS is a multi million dollar, multi year IT development effort that will literally transform the way we do business. EPAS is a high profile, top priority initiative, which will result in a state-of-the-art software solution for our property and casualty business transactions. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working on highly visible, fast pasted projects with aggressive deadlines. Leadership and innovation skills are valued on this team, and the ability to adapt in an ever changing environment is required.As a member of the EPAS maintenance team, you will be responsible for architecture, design, and solution assurance. This a non-coding position. The IT Solutions Engineer is responsible for delivery of product initiatives, working closely with various internal teams and external vendors to achieve desired product goals. Responsibilities are often conducted through a process of iterative development and require the IT Solutions Engineer to remain engaged throughout the product development lifecycle. Responsibilities include:· Create conceptual and detailed product designs.· Works closely with vendor resources to accomplish goals.· Responsible for development, oversight and sign off of work products from internal and external service providers, ensuring that delivered work products conform to needs of the product plans and meet the desired quality.· Collaborates with various internal and external resources during solution integration to ensure that the ultimate solution meets the specified design and each component achieves specified results.· Provides key communication and oversight role.· Responsible for developing and overseeing the transition plan to maintenance environment.· Provides all artifacts to ensure maintenance provider can support, enhance, and maintain application.· Works with enterprise architect in building conceptual enterprise design.· Produces conceptual product design.· Reviews and approves detailed design.· May create detailed design.· Responsible for communication of SLA’s.· May occasionally code and debug aspects of product initiatives.· Provides code review and quality assessment.Requirements: · Deep working knowledge of IT product strategies and architecture, including external trends.· Experience coding in a variety of languages. JAVA J2EE and C# strongly preferred, but experience with other languages maybe considered.· Ability to inspect and approve code builds.· Strong negotiation skills.· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
