Sr. Investment Accountant
Essential Job Functions: 1. Records and analyzes investment transactions, and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual investment schedules on both a Statutory and GAAP accounting basis.. 2. Assists in the preparation of detailed budgets of investment income and assets.3. Assists in the preparation of detailed forecasts and analysis of income trends, and provides technical analysis of key financial indicators, which support management and other departments in their respective investment decisions.4. Identifies and implements banking automation to increase operating efficiencies and cost effectiveness.5. Works with internal and external auditors on an annual basis to facilitate compliance with investment objectives. policies and guidelines.6. Assists in the preparation of A.M. Best and Standard and Poors required surveys on investments related to the ratings obtained from these national ratings agencies.7. Confirms investments held by various banks, departments of insurance, etc., and ensures compliance with state insurance regulations related to investment..8. Reviews and analyzes investment transactions, which are part of the GAAP & Statutory financial statements issued on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Analyzes historical results and detailed budgets of investment income and assets.9. Works closely with Treasury, Actuarial and Financial Reporting departments in providing investment reporting financial support, analysis and consultation, in assisting in the monthly and annual reporting processes, as well various other financial reporting related projects.10. Maintains active two-way communications with the external portfolio managers and management to closely analyze and report against key financial and operating targets, investment policy and guidelines throughout the year. Assists management in the execution of operational projects as well as various ad hoc analyses. Position Requirements:The selected candidate will meet the following criteria: * Bachelor Degree in Accounting* Insurance industry financial reporting knowledge, including both Statutory and GAAP accounting principles.* 4 years financial/investment accounting experience* Experience in preparing of Statutory investment schedules (i.e., Schedules D and DA).* Project Management Skills.* Analytical problem solving and organizational skills.* Clear and concise interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.* PC proficiency including Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.
