Sr. Annual Financial Reporting Model Analyst

Sr. Annual Financial Reporting Model Analyst
Assists management with developing business plans that ensure compliance with the Annual Financial Reporting Model (AFRM) regulation. Responsible for developing and maintaining internal control documentation, including narratives, flowcharts and/or risk matrixes; assessment of controls; developing executing, and documenting internal control test plans; recommending and verifying implementation of control gap remediation plans; and reporting conclusions reached regarding the effectiveness of the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting. Monitors and evaluates changes in NAIC, SEC and PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board) rules and regulations surrounding internal controls over financial reporting and adjusting Company’s scope as necessary.
REQUIRED:
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics, or a related field. Master Degree in Business or related field or CPA, CIA or other professional designation preferred.
Strong communication skills in order to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
Extensive experience to include:
· Complex accounting and analysis
· Complex model development and manipulation for the support and analysis of large projects
· Coordination of major scale projects
· Analyzing reports and processes and developing recommendations for management review
· P.C. software applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Access)
Knowledge of
· Statutory reporting requirements
· Internal controls and/or policies and procedures
Demonstrated skills in/with:
· Decision making and problem solving
· Planning and control of work flow
· Preparing and conducting presentations to various levels of management
· Understanding complex integrated business processes and financial systems
· Understanding major processes throughout the organization
Ability to:
· Provide work direction and guidance to others
· Organize and control projects
· Meet strict deadlines
· Willingness to work extended or irregular hours.
PREFERRED:
· Project management experience
Experience in/with:
· AFRM (or SOX) implementation, documentation and testing
· Internal or external audit experience
· An analytical capacity within the insurance industry
Knowledge of:COSO internal control frameworks
