Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer

 

The NAMIC Insurance Company (NAMICO) has a newly created Software Engineer position available at its Indianapolis headquarters on the northwest side of Indianapolis (College Park).  NAMICO provides professional liability insurance exclusively to the members of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) and their agents. NAMICO is expanding our IT functionality and need an additional Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer to meet our needs.  This position will be responsible for working with the current IT staff to support existing applications, design and develop new applications and develop system documentation.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

 

- Participating on a team to design, build, test, and document the next generation of the NAMIC Insurance and Agency System (NIAS) using AJAX technologies.

- Design and build new Database and AJAX Web Applications

- Working with manager and end users to develop Functional and Technical Designs of new and existing applications.

- Providing end-user support of BusinessObjects

- Providing end-user support of the Document Management System, TRIM.

 Behavior/Skills Required

·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

·  Ability to communicate effectively through written communication and documentation.

 Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology or equivalent

·  3 or more years of developing database applications (relevant technologies include: MS SQL Server, ADO, ADO.NET, VS2005, Transact SQL, Crystal Reports, C#, and VB.NET)

·  1+ years of developing Web Applications( relevant technologies include: VS2005, AJAX, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, C#, VB.NET, Telerik, ComponentArt, Infragistics, and DevExpress)

·  Knowledge of Development Methodologies and Project Lifecycle requirements.

·  Experience with BusinessObjects preferred, but not required

·  Experience with Telerik UI Controls preferred, but not required
