We currently represent a large regional Property and Casualty Insurance Company seeking an experienced Senior Workers Compensation Examiner.

 

Our Client is a National Insurance company with a regional branch in New York City. The territory serviced by this branch encompasses New York, New Jersey and possibly some of Connecticut.

 

The candidate we are seeking must posses a strong Insurance Carrier background in adjusting Workers Compensation Claims- preferably complex and catastrophic losses.

 

Your responsibilities will be to investigate, evaluate and settle Workers Compensation Claims within authority granted.

 

 The ideal candidate will posses a current Workers Compensation claims background at a Carrier, handling losses in New York.



 

Job Duties:



 

1)  Investigates, evaluates and settles complex/severe Workers Compensation claims within authority granted; this position involves both field and office work.

2)  Evaluates applicable policy contracts in claims and determines the covered loss.

3)  Evaluates all claims in relation to policy contracts, case law, statutory law, DOI regulations and similar standards applicable to claims within the territory.

4)  Establishes and continually monitors claim reserves for the purpose of contributing to the company’s ability to determine its financial position and assessment of rating structure.

5)  Maintains well-documented claim files and reports consistent with company policy.

6)  Maintains communication with insureds, claimants, agents, Branch Office and Home Office personnel.

7)  Continual cognizance of potential claims fraud and reports suspected cases to Branch Claims Manager.

 

Qualifications:



 

1)  Knowledge of current case law, statutory law, DOI regulations, etc. that apply to claims practices and issues within the territory of operation.

2)  Understanding of legal concepts in civil, tort and contract law.

3)  Ability to interpret routine and complex policy contracts

4)  Demonstrates sound analytical skills.

5)  Ability to negotiate effectively.

6)  Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

7)  Must maintain a current driver’s license in state of employment. 

8)  Ability to work effectively with company personnel, agency personnel, legal counsel, and others with whom our business is associated.

9)  Ability to plan, organize and establish priorities to maintain various responsibilities under critical deadlines.

10)  Ability to identify potential sources of subrogation and /or recovery

11)  Understanding of fundamental medical terminology and ability identify potential issues of treatment in relation to a particular occurrence.

 

Education and Experience:



 

1)  College degree or equivalent experience and/or professional designations.

2)  Five (5) years of Workers Compensation claims adjusting experience at an Insurance Carrier.
