Executive (SVP, VP, Department Head, etc) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Select Regional Underwriting DirectorSUMMARY: The Regional Underwriting Director (RUD) position exists to support each Select Region with high level technical underwriting expertise for all lines of business. The RUD works in concert with the Regional Vice President (RVP) and Home Office Underwriting/Product to develop, monitor and help implement regional underwriting strategies, which maximize profit and support growth where appropriate. The RUD will reside within the assigned region.PRIMARY DUTIES: In collaboration with Home Office Underwriting and Product, define underwriting appetite by segment line of business and geography. Develop and implement specific program, segment, and line of business strategies in conjunction with Home Office Underwriting/Product and Actuarial. Build and maintain Underwriting process and controls, which allow the field to execute in superior fashion. Conduct and monitor QFP reviews and analysis within assigned region. Provide analysis of findings to RVP and Home Office Underwriting. Conduct/manage the cure process within delegated authority. Provide analysis of findings to RVP and Home Office Underwriting. Participate in field performance reviews within assigned region. Implement CAT underwriting strategies and manage CAT capacity within assigned region. Based on analysis of QFP and field performance reviews, identify training needs. In collaboration with Select Training Unit develop and deliver technical training. Complete special projects as assigned by Home Office Underwriting. Mentor Regional staff in the area of underwriting performance at the direction of the RVP and support of the Managing Director, Managing Underwriting Director and Portfolio Director. Participate as a member of the Regional Leadership team while representing corporate discipline. Monitor regional performance in areas of regulatory, compliance, and strategic issues. Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups and identifies and delivers agency solutions and product solutions at the account level. Maintains an understanding of all Travelers products, services and solutions and initiates discussions with other business units as appropriate.EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY: College Degree or equivalent experience.WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 8 years Commercial Lines underwriting experience; highly regarded for level of expertise across all lines of businessOTHER: CPCU, ARM or related professional designation; or working towards designation Two years supervisory/management experience a plus. Consistently set clear direction by defining goals and priorities Makes sound decisions Takes responsibility for decisions and actions Possess exceptional organizational, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, interpersonal, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Understand Select Accounts products, financials, objectives and service requirements Extensive knowledge of product, operations, and agency distribution.
