Research Scientist

Our Underwriting department is seeking an experienced Research Scientist to develop and estimate new models for the assessment of insurance risk, the setting of insurance rates, and other statistical topics related to insurance. Qualified and interested candidates can also work on product development, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
Ideal Qualities:
* 5-8 years in Personal Auto Industry
* Experience delivering predictive models
* Advanced Degree in economics, statistics, or related field; PhD is a plus
* Excellent communication and organization skills
* Self-starter and strong individual contributor with ability to provide intellectual guidance and mentoring to less experienced analysts.
* High level of intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving skills in thinking about new approaches to data analysis.
* Programming ability
* Experience assembling and validating large bodies of data
Key responsibilities
* Produce predictive models which enable the creation of rating plans
* Improve and develop our retention model
* Communicate to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical, senior management and junior staff
* Meet other predictive modeling needs of the organization
* Train, coach and develop junior predictive modeling staff
