Regional Legal Paralegal

Provides effective litigation support in all phases of the litigation process under the supervision of an attorney. Must have an understanding of tort, insurance and contract law as well as the rules of evidence and civil procedure, no-fault if applicable, and the rules of the road. Conducts legal research for attorneys.

Education/Licenses/Designations
Associate Degree from a recognized paralegal program and two (2) years of legal experience; or a four year degree from a recognized paralegal program; or, a combination of five or more years of college education and work experience in a legal office/work environment.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Ability to understand and apply working knowledge of tort, contract, insurance law, insurance terminology and coverage's, rules of the road, and the rules of civil procedure.
Ability to communicate as advocate, evaluator, negotiator and mediator.
Ability to listen, comprehend and follow-up with appropriate questions.
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of people both inside and outside the company on a regular basis including members of the judiciary, opposing and co-counsel, insureds, expert and lay witnesses, agents, and company employees at all levels.
Ability to balance priorities under tight time constraints.
Ability to solve problems, exercise discretion and make decisions.
Understands and demonstrates knowledge of legal ethics.
Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrated aptitude for legal research.
Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.

Travel Requirements
This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.
