USAA is currently seeking a talented Property and Casualty Underwriting Portfolio Manager for our San Antonio, TX location. As a Property and Casualty Underwriting Portfolio Manager for USAA, you will measure and evaluate countrywide and state-level underwriting performance. Develop alternatives and make recommendations to enhance, modify and improve underwriting programs and performance in ways that align with enterprise strategies and objectives. Develop formal presentations and brief executive management on recommendations and serve as the primary underwriting contact for state-specific issues functioning as underwriting subject-matter expert in developing state-specific rates, plans and forecasts. You will develop and maintain a high level of understanding of economic conditions, regulatory issues, demographics and competitor practices with respect to pricing, products and marketing within an assigned territory. You'll coordinate, facilitate and direct regional underwriting involvement in portfolio underwriting issues. Qualified candidates need to possess: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. 5 years of prior industry experience to include advanced knowledge and understanding of P&C product lines, processes and fundamental underwriting principles. Demonstrated ability to lead special underwriting assignments. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience and knowledge in the following areas: Risk segmentation, Financial analysis, Insurance pricing knowledge, Internet business channels, Business planning and strategy and Business project and program management.
