Programmer Analyst

Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Perform the more detailed programming tasks and fundamental designs to meet company needs, either through individual efforts or within a team environment. Participate in the decision making process with the unit supervisor as well as on project teams and make recommendations to effect change.

Knowledge, Skills and Education Required
· Minimum three years programming and analysis experience. · Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience. Experience with RPG and Java programming · Demonstrated mastery of the duties and responsibilities of the Programmer position, as outlined in that job description. · Proven analytical, decision making, and problem solving abilities. · Understanding of file normalization and data modeling techniques. · Demonstrated design ability. · Able to organize and establish an efficient approach. · Procedural development/workflow analysis experience helpful. · Knowledge of ACIC systems and the business functions of customer areas preferred. · Understanding of the business and technical elements of the insurance industry preferred. · Able to provide estimates. · Able to coach and direct staff in a demanding technical environment. · Effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal. · Excellent listening skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Strong negotiating and influencing skills. · Able to manage group dynamics, facilitate effective team interaction and negotiate effectively. · Able to multi-task, manage details, and execute effective follow through. · Able to comprehend and apply a working knowledge of a system development methodology. · PC experience (word processing, spreadsheets, report writers, and database management systems) preferred. · Demonstrated dependability in a highly dynamic environment.
