Based on overall company vision and mission, the director develops the basic IT philosophies and standards related to the planning and architecture for acquiring or upgrading computer hardware, operating systems, infrastructure, and application software systems. The individual synchronizes individual business unit plans and overall IT goals and objectives. Work ranges from conceptual and strategic to tactical and includes integrating current architectures and initiatives as well as planning of new information technology architecture projects.     REPRESENTATIVE JOB  DUTIES (listed in order of importance):   ·  Lead development of an effective IT strategic plan which tracks to the overall vision of BCBSRI. Works with senior business and IT Leadership to develop and maintain three year target architecture and rolling IT strategic plan and technology roadmap. Plan and integrate short- and long-term technology options into overall IT Strategic Plan. Assesses options, risks and cost-benefit as it pertains to data, security, disaster recovery and other technology issues.   ·  Work with internal resources to ensure technology work is consistent with the strategic plan.    ·  Partner with technology personnel in developing internal systems to improve the security, effectiveness and efficiency of their technology infrastructures.   ·  Leads contingency planning for integration issues and impact on existing architecture, capabilities, system priorities, technology solutions, and other business processes.   ·  Monitor technology opportunities and emerging trends through use of industry resources and networking with counterparts in other Blue plans or companies.  Performs technical research and planning.   ·  Communicate strategic plans to firms resources internal and external to IT.  Work with resources to ensure that present day technology work aligns with the strategic plan.   ·  Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by Division management related to strategic initiatives.  Facilitate meetings with task groups or functional areas as required for such initiatives.  Proactively engage other members of the organization, where appropriate with specific subject knowledge to resolve issues or provide assistance.  Lead post implementation review of major initiatives to provide lessons learned and continuous improvement.   ·  Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to assigned staff.
