Payroll/Time Application System Specialist
DELTA DENTAL OF CALIFORNIA is the state’s largest dental health plan. We have a Payroll/Time Application System Specialist opening in our San Francisco corporate headquarters location. We are looking for an analytical, motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, developing, implementing, testing and supporting operations, procedures, policies, work methods and organizational structure in the area of Payroll. This individual will be working closely with Information Systems and Human Resources to provide service which is compatible with overall goals. Duties to include:
Managing the Payroll network and applications used by the department and providing technical support to the payroll staff; responsible for ensuring data integrity and quality in the payroll and timekeeping systems; including data auditing, table and data maintenance, report development, security maintenance and installation of system updates and enhancements. Working with all payroll offices and vendors to identify and analyze information needs; responsible for resolving system problems, working directly with Oracle and Kronos vendors for problem resolution; developing comprehensive computer-based solutions including generation of program logic and the creation of new data files, tables and relationships; testing solutions and producing documentation and end user procedures; maintaining current knowledge of the payroll systems as the department system expert. Creating custom reports in both payroll and timekeeping systems, developing interfaces when necessary; incorporating other data processing tools as appropriate; maintaining reports as required by system updates and report specifications; maintaining interface to the general ledger system and filing uploads and downloads to/from various sources. Recommending, and as appropriate, implementing new applications, system upgrades, disaster recovery plans and improvements; scheduling upgrades and installations and regularly monitoring upgrades and patches issued by system vendors. Performing other related duties and responsibilities, and special projects, as assigned.
Ideal candidate must have:
BA degree and 5+ years technical experience with IT systems, preferable Oracle systems.Solid programming skills to include knowledge of payroll system interfacing with other reporting systems, running queries, and report writing tools. Strong working knowledge of payroll systems, preferably Oracle HRMS/Payroll.Strong working knowledge of relational data bases including SQL, database development and administration.PC literacy required; MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); proficiency in InDesign is a plus!Excellent detail orientation and problem-solving capabilities. Strong organizational/time management and project management skills and multi-tasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to make executive-level presentations.
