Company: Jackson National Life Insurance Company Contact: Staffing Specialist Email: Apply by Email Address: Lansing, MI 48951 PC Software Engineer Nature and Scope of Position The PC Software Engineer will be responsible for providing Personal Computer (PC) support to all Jackson associates with Information Technology (IT) related problems.  The Engineer will coordinate with other departments to ensure PC needs are identified and will also maintain close contact with Helpdesk, PC Support, IT Security, Technical Communications, and the Network Systems Group to ensure technical standards are maintained, while utilizing appropriate technology.  The PC Software Engineer’s role is to assess, design, execute, distribute and troubleshoot operating systems, software applications, patches and updates.  The Engineer will also provide application testing such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing in order to discover and resolve configuration and interoperability problems and will also communicate test progress, results, and other relevant information to management and to various business units. Project management responsibilities include identifying the scope of assigned projects, determining goals and initiatives in collaboration with management, identifying and resolving issues and conflicts, and providing deliverables in a timely and efficient manner. The PC Software Engineer will also be responsible for providing proposals to management detailing project requirements, progress reports, and analysis of results. PC Software Engineers oversee all desktop/laptop systems to verify that operating systems and associated applications function properly and to minimize user time spent during application distribution, patches, and updates.  The PC Software Engineer will also research and provide recommendations on software and hardware products and services in support of procurement and development.  This individual will be responsible for ensuring guidelines are followed with regard to license administration.  Job Requirements Â·  Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and/or education;·  Solid knowledge of various IT technologies to include hardware, software, and communication systems; ·  Significant hands-on experience with networks to include Novell and Windows; ·  Knowledge of Internet/Intranet technology, on-line services and connectivity;·  Knowledge of Citrix, Softgrid and Active Directory;·  Ability to quickly learn new software;·  Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills;  ·  Ability to work extended hours on short notice;·  Must be Microsoft Certified in Windows XP (MCP/OS) or achieve this within 90 days of the start date;·  Successful completion of an Analytical Aptitude test. Preferred Qualifications Â·  Some practical experience or training in insurance industry practices and terminology;·  Experience with mainframe systems; and·  MCSE and/or MCSD.
