Managing Actuary - National Fee Policy

The Managing Actuary develops best practice actuarial models and promotes their implementation Program-wide. Conduct actuarial studies, develop recommended actions to Program Offices and Regional Offices executives, and assist in their implementation to improve plan performance. Manage and develop Staff Actuaries and Actuarial Associates. Provide actuarial expertise to support Shared Services for the Regions, governance and oversight role. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include developing best practice actuarial models for pricing, IBNR development and trend analysis by line of business product and local market. Promote and assist the implementation of recognized best practice models for Regional pricing, finance and marketing departments. Provide actuarial expertise to support Shared Services for the Regions, governance and oversight role (i.e. quarterly Region rate reviews). Conduct actuarial studies, develop recommended actions to Regional and Program Offices executives, and assist in their implementation to improve plan performance regionally and Program-wide. Provide actuarial certification and opinion to support regulatory filings and management decisions. Develop a central pricing and underwriting database for Shared Services, providing key resourcedata for actuarial services and performance analysis departments. Define standards of expertise and assist in training Regional pricing staff in the use of best practice models and other industry recognized pricing tools. Participate in product design strategy groups. Manage and develop Staff Actuaries and Actuarial Associates.
