Company: Jackson National Life Insurance Company Contact: Staffing Specialist Email: Apply by Email Address: Lansing, MI 48951 Manager, Systems & Programming Job SummaryThe Manager of Systems and Programming is responsible for managing a team that designs and develops new application systems and also maintains, enhances and upgrades existing applications. This individual will also provide performance feedback, handle employee relations, and guide and mentor programming staff.  The Manager will lead a programming team by developing strategies for system and process enhancements, participating in the evaluation of business requirements and identifying technical solutions. Provides oversight for the deployment of new systems/software and ensures that implementations and changes to current systems execute accurately and do not adversely impact existing production processing. Monitors system performance and evaluates operational support for production systems to ensure service level agreements are met. The Manager identifies opportunities to leverage system capabilities in support of business initiatives.  Responsibilities and Duties· Manage staff and accountable for personnel actions including hiring, performance and salary reviews, disciplinary action and termination;· Participate and oversee project plan design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of various application systems;· Implement strategies to improve current processes and procedures and identifies cost reduction opportunities in order to enhance business operations;· Manage the selection, procurement, and implementation of application software packages and other programming technologies; and· Manage budget expenditures and allocates IT resources appropriately. Job Requirements· Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and education;· Successful completion of an analytical aptitude exam;· Minimum 5 years prior experience in application development;· Advanced knowledge and experience with multiple programming languages, tools and technologies;· Extensive knowledge of various operating systems and environments;· Experience serving in a supervisory/management role or experience leading a programming team;· Solid experience working with methodologies and designing well-defined project life cycles; and· Demonstrated track record of successfully managing large-scale system and project implementations. Preferred Qualifications· Familiarity with life insurance systems;· Knowledge of the financial services or life insurance industry; and· FLMI or equivalent business experience.
