Insurance Claims Adjuster Representative Trainee

National Interstate wants you to add your vision and drive to our team! We are currently seeking Claims Adjuster Trainees for our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.
This is an entry-level opportunity and provides in-house training and our career track program.
Main responsibilities include:Handle claims involving collision, comprehensive, or property damage Contact insureds, claimants, and other involved parties to obtain evidence concerning lossesObtain police reports, photos, estimates, etc.Determine policy parameters such as periods, coverages, and deductibles Evaluate claims to determine settlement amount within authority limits and recovery opportunitiesDevelop basic understanding of liability and coverage principlesExpense control Reserve awareness Consult with supervisor on unusual situations or where severity of claim exceeds own authority level Handle inter-company arbitrationDirect the activities of appraisers, independent adjusters, and other vendors
Qualifications we’re looking for:Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university. 1+ years minimum experience dealing directly with the publicAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Possess effective interpersonal relations ability/customer service orientationKnowledge of PCs, especially word processing and spreadsheetsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructionsAbility to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variablesAbility to speak a foreign language is a definite plus
