This person will not be on the phones.  The IT Help Desk Manager candidates must be top guns; need a strong, bright, and committed leader to help keep the initiative strong. The Opportunity: The Help Desk Manager is a talented professional who uses judgment and discretion to solve technical business problems. The incumbent works with and manages the success-driven Help Desk team to quickly resolve the technical issue of the staff. The Role: The IT Help Desk Manager (ITHDM) is responsible for managing the telephone support analysts and PC technicians who provide support to end-users for software applications, desktop systems, notebook systems, printers, and remote access. The ITHDM provides work directions, mentors staff in efficiently resolving problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work; monitors and implements process improvement; assigns work orders to LAN Administrators; manages inventory of desktop and laptop PCs; schedules and manages the deployment of PCs for new hires; assists with communicating scheduled and unscheduled outages; provides weekly IT Help Desk status reports. In addition, the ITHDM communicates regularly with LAN Administrators in all offices, providing lists of outstanding issues in offices without full-time IT staff. Key Requirements: Key requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, a minimum of five years of IT experience, with three years managing IT help desks (preferably in a professional services environment), the ability to effectively multi-task and meet project deadlines, and the ability to track and trend problems and identify process improvement opportunities. The IT Help Desk Manager must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products and document management systems (Interwoven WorkSite preferred), knowledge of Help Desk management software (preferably Track-It!), demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, strong management and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of ITIL principles is desirable. Company: Modis, Inc.
