Looking for 95% resolution on first call. Strong VPN and Citrix is a big plus. This position is 100% helpdesk/phone support. Must have good people and troubleshooting skills. The Opportunity: The Help Desk Support Desk Representative is an integral member of the Information Technology team and is involved in resolving technical issues and troubleshooting. This is an excellent opportunity to join IT and support the needs of our internal clients. The Role: The IT Help Desk Representative responds to IT Help Desk telephone calls and e-mail messages and provides first-level support to in-house and remote users. The IT Help Desk Representative is responsible for many related IT support activities including recording technical issues in the IT Help Desk database system (Track-It!); testing and trouble shooting desktop computer hardware and laptops as well as new and upgraded end-user applications; trouble shooting printers; submitting requests for network account maintenance and replacement PC hardware following IT Department procedures; advising users on best practices in word processing, electronic spreadsheet development and graphical presentations. This position writes documentation in plain English for end-users and IT contacts for common computing tasks and schedules the use of loaner laptops, LCD projectors and other computer related resources. Key Requirements: A college degree is preferable or technical institute diploma as well as some prior help desk support experience in a professional services environment. The Help Desk Support Desk Representative will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2003, with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Citrix Client for Windows, VPN, Microsoft Project, Visual Basic for Applications, DOCS Open or Interwoven WorkSite (or similar document management system), Internet protocols, and client-side virus scan utilities. Candidates should have excellent personal organization, time management and follow-up skills in order to perform well within a fast-paced and busy working environment, and clear spoken English and excellent listening skills (particularly over the telephone) for communication of technical information with non-technical users.
