HR Consultant for Claims Line of Business in Central and Northern Florida. This is a senior-level professional position with a full understanding of HR functional practices and company policies and procedures. Works closely with Claims managers in the development of solutions to employee related issues that affect business results. As a fully competent and experienced professional, the Human Resources Consultant works independently in the administration of HR programs, policies and procedures handling a broad range of HR issues requiring analyses and evaluation of data to determine an appropriate, and sometimes imaginative, solution. Counsels managers and employees on various employee relation issues including performance management. Works with other HR functional areas to address problems and develop appropriate solutions. Identifies training needs and conducts training programs and workshops for employees. Keeps HR management informed of employee related issues and seeks out guidance and direction on more complicated problems. Keeps current on new policies, practices, and government regulations in field of HR. Maintains awareness of activities within the local marketplace that may impact employment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Partners with managers in the development of solutions to employee related issues that affect business results. Ensures HR programs, policies and procedures are applied and interpreted consistently. Assists managers and employees with human resource and employee relations issues including: performance management problems; works with managers to create and maintain a positive work environment; serves as an employee advocate, conducts investigations and recommends corrective actions; processes terminations and conducts exit interviews; leave of absence and attendance issues; career counseling including coaching and mentoring managers and employees by providing developmental feedback; workers compensation issues; interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations; interpretation of HR policies and procedures; and preparation of job descriptions. Works with corporate HR functional areas including benefits, compensation and recruiting to address related issues and develop appropriate solutions.Identifies training needs and conducts employee training sessions/workshops to address these needs covering a variety of HR topics including: new hire orientation, civil treatment in the workplace, recruiting and interviewing skills workshops. Participates in conducting employees focus group meetings. Prepares for sessions by becoming familiar with presentation materials including handouts, videos and PowerPoint slide shows. May customize training programs to meet specific business area learning objectives.Participates in HR projects and initiatives. Serves on project teams, provides business area specific representation, ensures business area is kept informed of project status. Attends business area HR meetings. Participates in the implementation of HR initiatives within area of responsibility.Maintains awareness of various HR trends within area of responsibility by preparing and analyzing reports of employee data including: turnover statistics; attendance tracking; compensation data, performance management, etc. Summarizes findings and develops recommendations to address issues identified by the analyses. Presents analyses and recommendations to managers and works to develop action plans for addressing identified HR issues.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:-Bachelors degree in Human Resources or relevant field of study and 5 to 7 years of experience in Human Resources; or, Associates degree in Human Resources or relevant field of study and 7 plus years of prior work experience in a functional area of Human Resources-Solid understanding of Human Resource procedures, principles and concepts in the following areas: employee relations, recruiting, training & development, performance management, compensation & benefits, safety.-Solid understanding of Federal and state regulations governing employment including: Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Pay Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Family Medical Leave Act.- Ability to operate a personal computer with a good working knowledge of the following software applications: Lotus Notes, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint-Good written and oral communications skills. Ability to prepare reports and conduct presentations.-Ability to calmly facilitate situations involving conflict and stress-Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information-Accustomed to travel as a regular (approximately 50%) part of the job.-Strong preference for the office location to be Orlando, however, will consider Jacksonville as second choice.
