General Adjuster - Property- Southern VA, NC, SC or GA
To provide superior service to all regions by handling claims with dollar exposures in excess of $50,000. This position is home based and located in either Southern VA, NC, SC or GA. This person will investigate the claim, estimate the property damages, obtain appropriate documentation, and effect settlement within the prescribed authority and standards of performance. The individual will handle property/inland marine and Flood claims primarily within the Selective footprint and as needed in all other areas. The position requires the ability to evaluate property-related damages in excess of $50,000 and a thorough knowledge of both Commercial, Personal Lines, and Flood coverage. This individual must be able to handle complex Business Income Losses. The position requires availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Required to administer Catastrophe Claims Handling in accordance with the Company's Catastrophe Plan. As the primary adjuster on a file, the individual will be responsible for all coverage determinations, negotiations, reserving, and settlement within the established authority. Individual will personally interact with insureds, agents, attorneys, public adjusters, contractors, and vendors. This person must have knowledge of computer-based damage estimating and be willing to learn our current software. Will be expected to provide training to Regional Office Field Representatives in coverage and/or estimating. Participate in Regional Office file reviews and/or other related issues. This individual may also be asked to represent Selective Insurance in trade organizations, such as Property Claim Services or other related trade associations. Required: High School Diploma Willingness and ability to achieve CIC certification in accordance with existing Certification Policy (please refer to the policy in the Training section of ESelect for details). Must possess or be willing and have the ability to attain Flood Certification within twelve months from date of hire. 10+ years field property claims experience Proficiency with standard business software applications and proficient keyboard skills Possess and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing with the DMV Must possess certification(s) identified as acceptable in Selective's Claims Certification Policy or willingness to achieve certification within three years of hire date.
