Director of Taxes & Insurance
Job Summary:
As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the Director of Taxes & Insurance oversees the planning and reporting on all income & franchise taxes, sales & use tax, as well as real estate and personal property taxes as required per generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, this position coordinates the placement of corporate insurance coverage; prepares detailed budgets and forecasts of taxes and insurance expenses; and manages tax and insurance premium audits. The Director will perform numerous responsibilities including the following:
¨ Manage the effective income tax expense rate and insurance premium rates, working with external consultants to provide the data and analysis to support the Company’s position(s).
¨ Identify and pursue available tax savings, insurance risk transfer options and process improvements. Work with external consultants on tax savings strategies and ideation and implementation.
¨ Perform income tax compliance (estimated payments, extensions, returns) and insurance reporting, as well as coordinate corporate tax audits and insurance premium audits.
¨ Oversee Sales & Use Tax return preparation and property tax returns. Includes oversight of two staff members.
¨ Monitor and evaluate impacts of changes in tax laws and in the insurance marketplace
Scope:
This position has the responsibility to make day to day decisions for the Tax & Insurance function as well as advise and assist senior management on significant issues outside of this scope. This position is exposed to confidential information related to financial statements, payroll information and strategic initiatives undertaken by the Company.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Master’s of Taxation preferred.5-10 years of progressive tax experience preferably within a public accounting firm or equivalent corporate role.Proven spreadsheet and word processing skills within Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.The ability to generate positive relationships with internal and external business consumers.Solid analytical, planning & organizational skills, including a pro-active ability to manage multiple priorities. Superb communication skills, including the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Unquestionable integrity.
Hours:
First Shift, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Flexibility in work schedule is required including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operational need may require. This position offers a very competitive salary & excellent benefits package.
