As the Director, Product Development-Small Business Accounts you will serve in strategic development and maintenance for their Businessowners product. This Home Office - Hartford, CT based position will assist with strategic planning and execution of profit and growth initiatives. The Product Director will be an expert in small business, providing training, input and analysis for product line best practices, underwriting positions, marketing materials, competitive information, segment underwriting reviews and claim analysis. You will work with Home Office Product & Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations, Sales & Marketing and Information Technology to develop strategies to ensure profitability, efficiency and leverage technology.

Director, Product Development- Responsibilities:

Assist in the formulation of specific segment and line of business product and underwriting strategies based on analysis of book performance, identification of trends and changes in the external marketplace. Responsible for Small Business initiatives including creation of product strategies and business initiatives to further refine, enhance and maximize the full potential of straight through processing. Set strategic direction for creating a new production platform (Small Commercial Business Platform) participating as a Subject Matter Expert. Partner with Underwriting and Product to monitor and coordinate related initiatives. Work with Marketing to create and distribute advertisements, corporate announcements and campaigns. Review and identify product training needs; work with Training to develop and deliver product training. In collaboration with Research & Development and the Property and GL leads, develop product solutions for the Small Business marketplace based on the national or regional needs of our customers.

Director, Product Development- Qualifications:

Strategic forward thinking individual with Commercial Lines underwriting experience. Insurance knowledge of and experience with a Businessowners Insurance Product. Possess exceptional organization, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, interpersonal, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Proactively participate and work in a team environment, demonstrated partnership building with individual team members and other business groups. Possess superior analytical and computer navigation skills; can easily navigate in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Possesses a general understanding of financial reports.
