We are one of the leading insurance companies in the United States.  Our superior financial strength and consistent record of strong operating returns mean security for our customers - and opportunities for our employees.  You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. We are currently looking for a Director - MI (MI Reporting Lead).  Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: Role Summary:The Director of Management Information will lead and develop a team of management information analysts responsible for delivering the reporting requirements of customers; exercising controls on the integrity of core management information and implementing improvements to advance future solution capabilities.  This person will work closely with business users, Business Analysts, IT team members and Project Managers in support of delivery initiatives.  Role Expectations:-  Lead and support the business reporting of core internal management information -  Maintain and develop process controls and procedures- Implement advanced standardized and self-service solution capabilities-  Provide guidance to business customers on sources and uses of various MI warehouses and Marts-  Support large projects and enhancements though the business requirements, design and testing phases-  Provide training/knowledge exchanges to other areas and individuals across organizations Competencies Desired:-  Understanding of business reporting ¿ how to transform data into information-  Ability to explore a wide range of business issues and work with matrix partners to create robust and feasible solutions-  Knowledge of data warehousing, mining, reporting and analytics-  A working knowledge of data architecture design principles and standards, including metadata and data modeling -  Experience with complete IT project lifecycle implementations -  Working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems -  Understanding of enterprise information and data management principles and value of enterprise data management -  Ability to assess and analyze large data sets for completeness and quality -  Ability to work as a team player in a multi-project environment -  Experience with BI Tools (i.e. Cognos, Business Objects, Hyperion or similar) and Data Warehousing delivery -  Knowledge of Data Warehousing Design patterns (i.e. Star Schema, Snowflake, Dimensional modeling) -  Data Mapping and transformation concepts (ETL) -  Structured Query Language (SQL) with Teradata / MS-SQL Server -  MS-Productivity Tools (Access, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)-  Contribute to the leadership, direction and growth of the Management Information community Experience:-  5+ years of experience, including 2 years direct involvement with business and data analysis-  Strong analytical skills and attention to detail -  Experienced with delivery of business metadata and information content  -  Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences -  Demonstrated ability to multi-task and function well independently -  Strong communication and organizational skills In addition to an exciting environment, we offer: * Competitive base salary with additional opportunities for variable pay through recognition programs and incentive awards * 401(k) with company match* Comprehensive health plans that include coverage for same sex/domestic partners* Strong work/family and employee assistance programs* Tuition reimbursement * Vacation Purchase Plan* Training/Development opportunities We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
