Commercial Property Claims Specialist

Max Specialty Insurance Company (Max Specialty), a member of Max Capital Group, is seeking a highly motivated and professional Commercial Property Claims Specialist to join its Commercial Property Claims Department in its corporate office, which is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. 

 

Max Specialty is a subsidiary of Max Capital Group Ltd., which is listed on NASDAQ as MXGL and which provides a wide range of niche and specialty insurance and re insurance products for corporations, public entities, property and casualty insurers and life and health insurers from offices in Bermuda, Ireland and the USA.

 

SUMMARY:

 

We are searching for an experienced Commercial Property handler who can demonstrate proficiency in first party estimatics, investigation, evaluation and negotiation at the most reasonable cost. Position will focus on supervision of a national Third Party Administrator with responsibilities for direct handling of the larger and more complex claims.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Oversee 1st party Property claims of medium to high severity and complexity as assigned.

Review the field inspection of losses including accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer assisted estimates.

Direct the investigation and evaluation of all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims. 

Review and validate timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.

Authorize denial letters, Non Waiver and Reservation of Rights correspondence.

Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.

Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.

Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers.

Recognize and approve referrals to the Special Investigations Unit and/or Subro Unit.

Act as a technical resource for Claim Representatives.

Perform any other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:

College degree or equivalent in business discipline.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

5-7 years of Commercial Property claim handling experience required including large loss handling.

Additional experience in Inland Marine claims would be an asset.

Previous TPA relationship management preferred

 

 

OTHER:

Knowledge of construction, estimates and estimating software

Must display solid verbal and written communications skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently.

Excellent negotiation skills.
