Client Relations Consultant

MetLife’s responsiveness to the needs of both clients and employees is a direct result of one of the core company values– People Count.Reporting to the Managing Director, Business Center, Structured Risk Solutions, the successful candidate will have responsibility for servicing activities as the primary client relations contact for a specific group of clients in the Small-Mid-Large market. In addition, the individual will form mentoring relationships with members of the Client Executive team to gain exposure and experience with larger, more complex client relationships. Part of the opportunity for this individual lies in teaming with senior level professionals to benefit from their expertise and gaining exposure to analysis and solution creation in addressing client situations and opportunities. Major Duties and Functions Include: Maintain strong working relationship with assigned group of clients, develop strategic plan or overview, leverage resources of organization to maximize earnings on relationship. Advise clients on defined benefits and defined contribution plans. Advise clients on capital markets and legal and regulatory aspects of the business in a client advocacy role, respecting the formal and informal relationships that exist between the client and retained counsel and advisors. Form mentoring relationships with members of the Client Executive team, with specific focus on acquiring knowledge of client specific benefit structures and financial details, MetLife stable value product structure, variations of offerings, pricing and market positioning, metrics and profitability measures, and applying the knowledge to client specific opportunities and situations. During the course of the mentoring relationship, the Client Relations Director will be expected to take on progressively more responsibility for product and administrative solution delivery in selected situations. Interact with all product delivery areas to ensure client satisfaction: including Administration, Product, Marketing, Pricing, etc. Negotiate contractual and pricing requirements internally; communicate externally. Maintain financial integrity of existing business, i.e., expenses on existing relationships, oversight on billing, maintain and monitor fund balance, book/market ratios, etc. Update documentation in Avenue and other MetLife systems to enable organization to leverage activities within Institutional, MetLife and enterprise wide. What You Need to Succeed: 3 to 5 years related experience. Basic understanding of pensions and savings businesses and capital markets. Knowledge of defined benefits and defined contribution plans. NASD Series 6 or 7 and 63 will be required. State insurance life licenses are also preferred but not required. If the individual does not possess the requisite NASD licenses, they will be expected to pass the licensing exams within four to six months following date of hire. CEBS or pursuing CEBS designation. Understanding of the client management role and required responsiveness to client needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong influence skills and ability to manage and coordinate delivery from other business units. Ability to work on multiple projects, manage time and meet deadlines. Ability to understand and interpret technical documents, contracts and financial statements. Ability to function as part of a team. Work shouldn’t be something you do just to make ends meet.
